| Locals pub situated in an estate, not too far from the town centre. The crowd of smokers around the entrance were difficult to negotiate despite a couple of them disappearing into the shadows of the car park to do God knows what. The pub was definitely a pub of two halves. Whilst youngsters congregate in the one room around the pool table, the more mature clientele can be found mulling over matters on the other side of the bar, which is altogether more comfortable. Tetleys Bitter & Mild, Marstons Pedigree and Sharps Doom Bar were available. But I'm not sure this was worth the journey out of the town centre. blue_scrumpy - 4 May 2011 18:42 |
| Whats with the spelling? Hic. The STAR (one R) is top. Great boozer, with black sheep et al on the menu. Used to go in the 90's for top food as well...not sure if they still do food. Seve1974 - 24 Aug 2010 22:30 |
| Still a fairly decent pub but in recent years has let its standards slip a bit. Last time I visited only Tetleys and Bombadier on hand pull and neither were particularly nice. There used to be a Black Sheep once upon a time. Bring it back. Also not sure about some bar staff who thought putting on their own music over the pub PA after last orders. The "music" was in very bad taste and it soured my view of the place. Haven't been back since but hopefully it was a one off, this is probably one of the only half decent pubs in Bingley. | Sentiment echoed entirely, I may be wrong but this is the last pub of its kind in Bingley,(and I do mean 'PUB') Long may it stay sheerline1 - 4 Mar 2007 19:14 |
| Tucked away in a less than welcoming estate, this pub is like an oasis of normality in the pub world. It used to sport an interesting array of Laurel & Hardy memorabilia but this was all swept away when it changed hands about a year ago, the fittings are now average and forgettable. There are lots of seats and a central bar that serves both the main & "locals" bars. Beer is OK but not too adventurous however this pub is all you could want from a friendly local.
