|The makings of a decent pub, although the owner is a tool who is obviously trying to cultivate a contrarian character for himself but just comes across as rude, and to women in particular.|

|An unmodernised feel to both pub and customers. Found it relatively friendly although the locals do tend to hog the bar. The pint of Hartington bitter was quite nice.|

He followed that up with she is allowed in but let me make sure mines out of the way. I said don't bother, I'm not staying to which he replied "remember, don't just walk in a pub with a dog on a lead without asking first!! Twenty first century customer service.....
Shame really, I've run pubs for years and love Hartingtons beers, oh well, Black Lion at Consall for me then.

|Excellent Hartington range of beers plus at least one guest. Visited on a quiet Saturday lunchtime, only a few in, but pleasane atmosphere nonetheless. Very friendly Staffy pub dog.|

|Landlord could do with learning to smile.. but he's from Yorkshire and perhaps it's an act? Beer always good but no atmosphere apart from winding up said misery guts *grins*|
Nice big garden at the back.. nice facility.. Overall one of the pubs to visit along with the Bull 8/10
