user reviews of the Kylesku Hotel, Kylesku

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

This hotel is in a fantastic situation on the shores of Loch Cairnbawn, but that's about the only thing going for it.
The interior is split into two levels, with the bar and main drinking/dining area on the lower level. There is further seating and a pool table on the upper level. There is outside seating but how many days of a year you can sit outside is a moot point.
They don't serve real ale. I had a pint of a bland, tasteless keg beer that I have now forgotten (McEwans?)
All meals are around the 10.00 mark. We had a roast chicken which was just that, chicken roasted - no sauce, no gravy, no flavouring of any kind. For this we were charged nearly twelve quid.
Pubs are few and far between in this part of Scotland so it's sad to have to say that this has always been a fairly charmless place.

Well worth the drive, been a couple of times stayed for three days once room basic but comfy (late september 2005 if my memory is right). At that time the pub had just been taken over by a couple from Whitly bay some 400 miles distant in the south of Northumberland.
Food as then very good but slightly expensive the locally caught langostines and other seafood are delivered to the pub straight off the boat at the jetty outside.
Yes they have a captive market as it is a long way to any other hostleries but in my opinion well worth the visit,I recall the beer was not that expensive taking into account the very isolated location.
At the time the place shutdown late October until March time.
Fantastic scenery peace and quiet and YES the bloody mozzies.

Despite any ratings score, you will not find an alternative bar for some miles!

Bar with bar meals and a separate restaurant. not close to any other bars!
