| Only two beers on when I walked in on saturday afternoon , tribute, and theakstons lightfoot,reasonably priced at £3 a pint, but I have to say the quality of the Beer was poor. | Hello Jellytot76, my one-posting friend! 1. The For Sale sign wasn't up when I visited, although I've seen it since. 2. Agree Sky expensive, but it does get the punters in. Hopefully it'll be back. 3. Agree better than Wetherspoons. Most things are. 4. The street market closes at 2.00 pm. (I should know, I work on it) I was in at about 12.30 pm. Agree some of the customers are of the knit-your-own-muesli variety but plenty of them are normal and might fancy a lunchtime pint. In conclusion (please note the spelling), I always saw this site as somewhere where we could just leave our own impressions of pubs we use. I didn't think it was necessary to go in with a questionnaire and clipboard and interrogate the staff. | in response to mousefan april 5th, always remember there are 2 sides to every story and facts should be reported accurately to avoid undue hassle and bad press for anyone in the trade! So facts 1: the pub is not in trouble, the pub is up for sale, as the large sign above the door clearly states, and the current management are dealing with issues from long ago, and as the regulars will testify, are doing a good job. 2: Sky t.v costs a lot for a pub, the jersey lily in particular cost around £800 per month, and as stated before, the pub is up for sale and the current management are not able to sign the 18 month contract sky would like them to. 3: the fact that the barmaid changed your drink with no hassle is surely a good thing, try and get hassle free service at a wetherspoons, i rest my case. 4: the street market you refer to would be the one that closes at 1pm and did you see the people who were shopping there, not the lunch time drinking kind me thinks!!! and as a regular in the pub i would invite you to turn up at 4pm when the pub is very busy through the evening. in conclucion, people should always find out facts before posting anything, it stops undue problems to the landlord, and stops the person writing the comment looking like an idiot. yours sincerely jellytot xxx jellytot76 - 16 Apr 2011 15:43 |
