Dear Mr Fuller. Why so close to the brewery, do I have to drink lukewarm ESB out of a bottle. Fix the fridge, stock it earlier OR perish the thought, put it back on the handpull.

Such a shame!

An oasis in an area where there are loads of pubs but most of them serve rubbish beer in absolutely dire surroundings. I first drank in the Crown and Sceptre in 1987. At that time it was a traditional old West London pub divided up into many rooms with stacks of old fading QPR memorabilia on the wall. Fast forward 21 years and it's now a very nice Fullers pub with one big inside room and a great beer garden in the back. It's a bit tucked away but is well worth seeking out about 8 minutes walk from QPR's ground and 10 minutes to Shepherds Bush Empire so great for a pre match or pre gig drink.

The old style Crown and Sceptre was featured in the 1991/2 BBC sit com Boys from the Bush

Fabulous food. Good beer. Friendly staff. Not the cheapest place to eat but seems to deliver the 'gastro-pub' quality without losing it's local pub atmosphere. Equally comfortable for a sit-down meal with a bottle of wine, or just a few relaxing beers at the bar.

I have a big soft spot for the Crown and Sceptre but I've got a very important piece of advice for anyone who wants to eat there... don't go on match day.

I also love football and even to an extent QPR so to me it seems unfair that they should lower their standards just because the place is crowded - but they do.

We had had several excellent meals here but when visiting on a busy match day the 'food' we were served showed utter contempt, it was an inedible disgrace. I had even sensed the panic in the kitchens and ordered a simple fry up, but it was utterly disgusting with clearly salvaged lamb sausages, uncooked bacon and unsalted eggs. When we were asked by our waitress if the food was OK we said no, it was not, and she just shrugged. Why ask?

I do sympathise having worked in bars affected by football crowds but what they should do is simplify the menu - not serve shit on a plate.

I've walked past this pub loads of times and never been in until last weekend and it's truly a great little pub - good beer and the food is excellent value for money. I ordered a fish & chips and out came Moby Dick in batter. Well worth the detour.
