Went in Easter Sunday - early evening. Atmosphere not good just lots of little boys shouting and swearing. Bloke behind the bar didn't seem able to deal with simple requests. Sh1t smeared all over the seat of the Gent's loo and floor awash with p1ss. Avoid. ripitupandstartagain - 26 Apr 2011 20:45
Went back here on Wednesday night after a few years out of the area and wasn't impressed! Seems like youngs have got it all wrong and ruined a busy lively pub with decent staff, new crowd of drinkers not the best! drinkiedrink - 10 Sep 2010 16:50
thank goodness youngs have finally seen sense and decided to change the manager, a dull and uninteresting woman with bad breath and very little in the way of social skills, i have witnessed her talking to her staff as if they were something nasty on her shoe that she had stepped in, being the worse for wear and shouting rudely across the bar after sampling to much of her products, and generally driving down trade from a once thriving venue. good riddance and next time you are passing just keep going. papalouie - 7 Sep 2010 22:13
I hear there may soon be a change of Management, yet again ! What is wrong with this place or is it Youngs that just seem to cock things up. I have worked in Pub Management myself and I know ony too well that when a Pub doesnt work, blame and get shot of the Manager.Rather than admit that the Company have got it totally wrong.I visit The Rose & Crown at least twice a week and I have to say it has been much better since the current Landlady took over. The standards have definately improved and she Manages to create quite a nice atmosphere even though you can tell she is obviously under pressuer to increase trade. The Pub needs consistency so to keep changing the person at the Healm is a NO NO. smileyjoe - 23 Aug 2010 17:49
We wanted feeding - only bar snacks available from a very vague menu. Didn't stay - went across the road to the Royal Oak. steambeer - 23 Jun 2010 19:47
