The Bell is one of those places you're not sure you want to tell all your friends about because you want to keep it to yourself. If everyone knows about it then what will happen to those lovely, cozy and peaceful Saturday afternoons where we read the papers, get fed real food, simply cooked by a really good chef and treated well by the Landlord and his friendly staff?
If you like great food, real ale & good wine, a relaxed and friendly atmosphere in a proper un-fussy Brighton pub, then you could do worse than try this place...... Damn, I told you now!

Having lived opposite this pub for years until recently I can say that its been well turned around in the last few years. Not my favourite and the barflys are a bit off putting at times but well run and friendly management.

This little gem of a pub is a petunia in an onion patch.........having visited on several ocaisions in varying sizes of parties and always left overly satisfied I am happy to report a resounding success in the re-visiting stakes. This Sunday we descended on The Bell as a Party of 14 including small child and baby - we spent many hours and 3 courses of delicious food in a most convivial atmosphere and as a whole could not find fault. Much alcohol was consumed the sun shone down, we drifted in and out of the beer garden, the food was as ever reliably delicious the menu innovative, beautifully presented and the cost you may ask? ? Ridiculously Cheap. I thank the day my Son decided to make this Pub his local. I cant recommend this friendly convivial find more highly.

Not great. Harvey's and fortyniner on tap. The locals propping up the bar are a dodgy looking bunch of characters.. Small yard area out the back for smoking. If the Forager round the corner is too 'gastro' for your tastes this place will certainly serve as an antidote, but I can't help thinking they may be a taking this role a bit too far.
