Great unknown Brighton pub, really changed in the last year. The food is always amazing, best roasts in town and always interesting local food during the week. Really freindly and helpful staff and a good atmosphere! Family friendly which is great for me and can watch the game with the kids. Good local ale and beers, and away from the hubbub of the town centre, a must, 5 stars!

Popped in last sunday after a friend recommended it to us. One of the best roasts we've had in a long time, they even made the mint sauce. Nice pint of harveys to wash it all down as well.
Defintely recommended.

Busy pub with live music (I went in on a Thurs night)and a dazzling display of chrome beer dispensers on the bar. Only one 'real' beer though - London Pride, and that not at its best.

Has gone through another change of management recently and is probably the best of the three administrations I've known run the place as "The Round Georges" (this site really needs to update itself as it's not been the Sutherland fr several years now.

A new menu with decent traditional pub grub at fair prices. Certainly a cut above your average burger and chips you might find at a Greene King, although not quite The Greys yet!

I think over time they have veered away from the reputation the pubs previous incarnation had developed and it is generally a mixed crowd of friendly locals to be found there in the evenings. Whilst in the day time it is very quiet (although they only open from half 3 in the week).

Sky sports showing all the major action, and you can also hire the downstairs bar sometimes for big games, or just for functions if you so desire.

Has recently undergone yet ANOTHER refurbishment and now has a bit more character than all the bright colours and leather stools of before.

Sadly brewery rules dictate no Harveys (however they do use it in their steak and ale pie - yummy!) and although there are two hand pumps, they are rarely both working. Good selection of lager on tap though, with Red Stripe, Staropramen, Carling and Becks. Also Stowford Press Cider and their Guinness is of the chilled variety.

Few pub games behind the bar like backgammon and dominoes and they've gotten rid of the fruit machine also. The pool table is downstairs, where you can feel a little isolated, but at least there's nobody to laugh at you when you miss a shot!

All in all a decent local boozer that offers nice food and a relaxed attitude.

**UPDATE** The Round Georges have just taken over Brighton's longest running folk night after a fall out with the previous venue. Good luck to them!

found the thai menu a little overwhelming. the classical music was not to my taste.
fantastic range of normandy perries though.
