Just wanted to voice my support for this boozer after reading about the pool team who were recently asked to leave because they'd only bought one drink between them. ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/sussex/7005547.stm) If they want to play pool and not drink then they should join their local pool hall - that's what they are there for. Pub are there to sell booze and make their money from selling thus. Pool tables in pubs are there to attract other drinkers - not the other way around. How dare these upstarts think they have right to use the premices for their games of pool without having to pay for them. Godspeed Mr Street. thenationofjames - 21 Sep 2007 10:40
Good old fashioned pub with two pool tables. Shame the bar is so big, would be better with public bar and lounge, but overall an ok pub for a drink. The landlord is very good and the staff are generally welcoming. The beer could be a bit better, but there are usually a couple of ales to choose from. Only real downside is the proliferation of Chelsea fans, so avoid when the Blues are on telly. flagship - 14 Sep 2007 19:11
Have to disagree I'm afraid. I thought the place was horrid. Very smoky. Different sports on every telly (and it wasn't even during a football/rugby/cricket match). We ordered food and 15 minutes later the girl came back and told us she couldn't find the chef so would have to refund us our money. One I'll be avoiding in the future JohnnyFreebase - 17 Apr 2007 11:53
Love this place! Very big street corner pub that is decorated as a pub should be. Traditional interior, clean, warm and friendly, people actually talk to strangers in here. If your ever in this part of town make an effort to get in here before some numb nut comes up with the idea of "improving" it. forresearchpurposesonly - 18 Aug 2006 22:41
