An old bloke once mooned at me and my mates here when we were watching "Lewis and his Sound of the Suburbs" live (genius) and having a few beers. Still, it makes for entertainment. Its a town pub and is really good for sitting in with a mate or two at lunchtime, having a few beers and watching the world go by. Sometimes its lively in the evening, sometimes its not so good. All in all I like it there but you may not.

Genuine old world charm is where the Ship is at. The place seems embued with a million drunken stories of the sea and that sense of robust, good-natured enjoyment gives this place an atmosphere unlike any other I've known.

A selection of comfortable seating, (including no less than 2 Chesterfields!), makes this an excellent place to sit and unwind after work with a pint, paper and peanuts.

The cellarman really knows his stuff and serves the best pint of Summer Lightning this side of the Avon. The Ringwood ales are also kept in superb form.

Sure, some of the regulars can get a little gravelly late on in the evening and the place would probably benefit from some better flooring, but that is more than forgiven by the amount of space.

I've you're stopping by Christchurch, this one's definitely worth a look.

Cheers!

There is now a sign on the door which says 'No under 25's except by prior arrangement'. This is objectionable and I don't have an axe to grind as I'm 42 years old.

It's a town pub and it's open late! Not much more you can say, beer is o.k. reasonable price.
