A craft union bar in a town centre side street. Dull and music far too loud.

Visited the Brasserie Chalon on a Christmas night out. Great atmosphere in the pub and the beers were served well by friendly bar staff.

On another note, I lost my wallet, and the manageress, took the time to use my id to find me (via my Costco card and calling the shop and getting them to phone me). In this day and age, this level of effort and honesty was a breath of fresh air.

Not very busy when we visited and seemed to be concentrating on doing food rather than good ale. There was the usual ale on and then Chestnut and Worthys Cream Flow.... Not a great selection.

Great City Centre location

Basic pub for council office workers in the vicinity.

i cant believe this hasn't been mentioned yet....legend has it that this place was once called the swinging tit, this is allegedly because: the bar staff were topless and for an extra pound they would dip a nipple in your pint...i have no idea if Dave Burgess carried on that tradition when he took over - ANSWERS ON A POSTCARD???
