Not everyone will like this pub as the comments show. It is, mainly, a food outlet, and not a cheap one. I've always enjoyed the food, but the portions are modest and I suspect the menu won't suit all tastes. In fairness, I've not had a bad pint here and have had several excellent ones.

Not a place to go in your scruffs and probably not ideal just for a beer. But a nice venue for the right occasion, especially when you are flush.

I love this pub and regularly travel over 100 miles (200 mile round trip then) to eat here. Food is fabulous. You don't know how lucky you are to have a local "cuisine" and lovely local produce. Beer is good too although soft drinks can be a bit sweet!

The ale at the bar was very warm (Lancaster Bomber and one other ale on when I went late last year) - they don't seem to keep their beer well. The food was fairly reasonable but very overpriced for what you actually got and they ask to see your card before you order which didn't go down well. The place had a kind of pretentious air to it and the constant plugging of local produce seemed false. Best avoided.

Thought this place was fantastic, all the food is from local produce and good ole English Cuisine, yes it's different but it works, these guys are full every lunchtime and evenings, people seem to wait because they want to. The Beer was Superb and the staff were very hospitable, the atmosphere was made from the people, it's a pub restaurant rather than a traditional pub. I'll be going back, but each to there own.
There Michelin star sister company the Northcote Manor is a different class altogether, but you want the best than your going to psy for it

Not my cup of tea. Food not that impressive (although the Northcote Manor {parent company} is very good. Over priced and atmosphereless. My friend suggested it was an up-market Brewer's Fayre. I don't like paying up front for food either.......very heavy marketing is obvious and is a bit all consuming. I agree with last comment.... go to the Aspinall Arms over the road or the new Red Pump Inn in Bashall Eaves, both miles better for food and good ales.
