Smart dining pub with 3 AA Rosettes that is reminiscent of a hunting lodge. Various eating areas upstairs (e.g. The Portrait Room) that were all superbly presented. I can't remember what I drank last Sunday (didn't visit for the beer) but I recall that there was only one cask ale which I think may have been from Moorhouse's.

Take one lovely atmospheric little pub, close it for two years, upset the local villagers and open again as a pompous overpriced restaurant for would be deer hunters and you have the Freemasons Arms. But who am I to judge, it is so popular you must book well in advance which is a shame if you live around the corner and want a quite pint.

.....went for food for the first time...yesterday ,
couldnt help but be impressed.... the wine list was extensive , with a nice dry house white at 9.99 .
food was excellent [ i would recomend you make a reservation at weekend...] they just managed to squeeze us in at 6pm on a saturday ... these people obviously care , the tables are well presented , and the menu was varied , the food was great , i can recommend this place.... if you can find it !!

You'll never find it, it's down an unmarked alleyway and you cant see it from the end, but... some of the finest food in Lancashire (really), a 600 bin wine list, good real ales, dozens of whiskys, God knows what else. Oh, and about as big as your aunties sitting room and similarly furnished. Gets very busy (that'd be twenty people, then!).
