user reviews of Marigolds, Darwen

Had to register to rectify what Carldee has said about this place. Marigolds is by far the safest place to go for a drink in the town centre, unlike the other pubs there's hardly ever any trouble, and it's open later than they are. I've even taken my Mum & Dad up there on the odd occasion!

As for the customers looking young everybody knows the kids go to the Roxy! I'd say until a year or so ago it was a much older people that went to Marigolds but now there's a good mix of ages. It's open late, free entry, has mostly VERY good bands and some cheap drinks. Ok so it could def do with a new carpet but The Millstone spent a fortune not long ago and it's crap, no atmosphere, not quite a bar, not quite a pub, and expensive too.

We usually jump on the train to Manchester cos everything in and around Darwen is so rough but Marigolds is a good night, I'm glad it's there!

It is a bit run down but it is fun too, I think you get a really good mix of all ages and anyone who is more sensible than paying £5/6 to go to the roxy!
We always have a good night out there, some bands are better than others but it's ok

Run down and scruffy. Not a pleasant environment for a couple or group. Bands think the louder they play the better they are. A lot of the customers looked very young. Better late night venues at Millstone or Bridgewater.

£1.85 for a cheeky vimto is cheap enough for me!!

Great night out!! They always have live bands on the weekend and there's a warm atmosphere with folk of all ages...
Since they put the 'Cheap Beer B4 11' offer on we watch the footie in there too, it can be a bit quiet but the screens massive (about 2metres wide!) so you don't miss much!!
Other than the fact you've got to make it up and down their stairs it's a safe, easy pub.
