| A very average country pub that appears to have had the traditional heart ripped out of it during a 1960's refit and has received little in the way of TLC since. Surly barmaid did nothing to make us welcome and the Butcombe was not particularly well kept. The place badly needs a strong injection of enthusiasm - shame because it could be a lot better. | What a delight to find this pub. Myself and six other Gillingham supporters walked from Yeovil Junction station and were made so welcome we stayed for more than 2 hours. The real ale was good the food was good honest pub grub and the people realy friendly what more could you want! To top it all our football tickets got left in the pub, so the landlady sent her son accross Yeovil to deliver them to us at the ground. Needless to say we returned after the game and continued to enjoy their hospitality and met a realy friendly bunch of locals, great pub! plodge - 25 Apr 2006 14:56 |
