| This is a beautiful,traditional pub, situated just off the A303 after the Ilchester / RNAS Yeovilton turn off southbound. We found it a perfect pub to stop in when travelling down to the west country. The atmosphere is very warm and friendly and although it is obviously also a 'locals' pub, the welcome was very hearty and inclusive. The food was amazing, clearly home cooked and very generous portions. As a history buff myself, I found this pub amazing as it dates back to the 16th century and has very strong links to the nearby Naval air station, it was very interesting chatting to the landlord and landlady as they were very knowledgeable about this.
