The Cross Keys, Corsley - pub details
Description
The Cross Keys, a delightful 400-year-old country hostelry, just a mile from Longleat, has recently been taken over by Mike Barnard, this is his first venture since being Head Chef for Mark Hix, setting up the acclaimed Hix Oyster & Fish House in Dorset, and having previously worked at the Ivy, Gidleigh Park, and the Montagu Arms, Beaulieu. His partner Elena Elliott has left Hugh F Wittingstall at River Cottage, to take charge of front of house operations.
Inside, a log fire crackles in the quarry-tiled bar, where Wadworth real ales are on draught, and you can while away the time with traditional pub games. A locally sourced simple menu, concentrating on seasonal produce at reasonable prices, paired with an excellent winelist, complements this charming pub.

What a fantastic pub!! Took my little boy (5 years) in there for lunch yesterday. Vic the new landlord made us both feel very welcome. I have heard great things about their Sunday lunch and will be making a booking in the very near future. RSJauncey - 30 Nov 2008 22:01
The new managers Vic and Lynn are very welcmoing and friendly. The food is fantastic and reasonably priced for the area. If you are looking for a lovely meal in a warm atmosphere it's definately the place to go. bharding - 29 Nov 2008 16:05
A little off the beaten track this Wadworth Pub places a large emphasis on its food with a fine menu including locally smoked trout. Staff seem polite and helpful and the atmosphere is good. Good range of Wadworth beers all well kept, and the food is very good, with big portions although a little pricey. There were children in the Bar, albeit of age 11 and over who were made perfectly welcome. Don't really feel to aggreived if A Pub is not family friendly as Pubs are not for children anyway, and if that is the policy of the owners then that is up to them ahscum - 17 Jul 2008 11:50
