user reviews of the Old Inn, Holton

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Pub has now changed hands and the old guys who ran it have retired, transformed into a hideous up market foody restaurant with absolutely nothing to recomend it apart from a few good beers, no longer a patch on the old place and not worth a visit now

Think it's up for sale but a very classic old English pub. Beers well kept and simple pub grub that is tasty and well priced. (Cold meats, chips and chutneys is delicious).

This is a marvellous pub, one of a kind. It the quintessential English pub and the locals are very friendly. The food and wine list are excellent. In the summer the flowers and garden are superb and it is a fine place to enjoy a few beers in the sun.

Pipe smokers are welcome as are dogs on leads.

Children are welcome in the restaurant (if eating)but children are not allowed in the bar (it's the law).

The garden is up some steep steps and not that well equipped for children but this is a pub not a playground.

Another comment complains of being asked to park his car horizontally. I have visited this establishment on many occasions when I couldn't get on to the car pack as it was so busy. The norm is to park sideways to ensure car parking space is used economically.

Rude and unfriendly landlord who insisted that I park my van sideways on before entering the pub! It was a huge carpark with only two other cars in it. Needless to say we left to find somewhere else.
