This is a great boozer - I played here with my band, The Capris, on Saturday and they do have a superb sound system, engineer and stage that is such a buzz for any real musician!!! This place deserves more clientele though, it was very quiet and for a proper music venue, thats unfair! Don't be put off by it being in Leytonstone, without being rude to people who live there, its not the sexiest place going, but u tend to find some of the best music venues are in manky areas. (Spotted Dog, Willesden). 300 capacity, friendly staff etc - we loved gigging here and will be back. Its one of those places that needs to be experimented, and then the word needs to be spread. tombsie - 13 Oct 2008 12:58
Under new management, hopefully cna be built back up to what it was 2 years ago. Always a good venue to play, friendly with quiet a mixed clientel from locals to irish to eastern european back grounds mixing happily. Possibly the ebst live sound system in the east end of London prime - 22 Jul 2008 15:02
This place is another wannabe Camden Town/Islington venue. It just did not work for me. I was poured a glass of vinegar instead of Merlot, which I refused to accept from the half asleep barmaid who had gunge in her eyes as though she had just woken up. She reluctantly replaced it with one from a fresh bottle after grinding half the cork in it. There was a couple of people on stage blaring out rubbish music to a disinterested audience of about 10 people mostly men. The place is gloomy. There is an extensive menu on display with trendy food obvioulsly sitting in a freezer, as it would be impossible to churn such items out fresh. I got chatting to a regular who told me that the owners were trying to sell the place as it was not paying. It is a dismal dreary place and cannot understand all the positive comments made. The same regular told me that 'Loaded Dog' means a dog full of excrement waiting to go. I thought that this is the most appropriate name for the pub as it is just that! I have found it very difficult to find a half decent pub in this whole Borough! offthewagon07 - 24 Nov 2007 13:20
Still my favourite pub, with good music and all you need for a night out to remember. Nice to see it still going strong. Highly recommended. Take the time to check it out. Chiara - 12 Oct 2007 23:23
Been back again and happy to report that this place is still the best thing to happen in East London. Great music, great music and more great music and when there's no music, it reverts back to being a simply great pub. Fairly quiet during the day time hours but they make coffee good enough to cure hangovers. Or there is the hair of The Dog... Best of all girls, this is one of the ONLY live music places where we can go to have a great time and not be bothered with drunken idiots wanting to fight. The door staff are really nice, the bar staff friendly AND competant and best of all they have the world's best pub bulldog. Check this place out - they have a website so you dont turn up on a Jazz night if your a rocker.. or vice versa! Long live The Loaded Dog... Chiara66 - 29 Dec 2006 23:12
