Still doing a pretty good job considering what it is trying to achieve. Sport and lager in the main bar, real ale in the lounge bar. It is a good mix. Can get busy early evening as punters turn up before going out to eat in one of the many restaurants in Petts Wood. Probably a good idea as the food in the daylight is a bit cheap and cheerful.

I maintain a premium rating on this pub as they do display a good range of well kept beers at a reasonable price.

Ok this might not be the place to bring your family for a cozy lunch and the outside does look a bit tatty these days, but as a real ale drinker I have to say the Daylight does surprisingly well. It is not necessarily the fault of the landlord that the clientel happens to be rather lively and generally chavish, the pub has been like that for years. However, I have started to pop in there occasionally "early doors" for a few pints and the beer has been excellent. The Bishops Tipple I have been drinking recently has been spot on which indicates that the lines are being kept clean on a regular basis. The staff quickly know who you are and what you are drinking and look as if they enjoy working there. Have to agree that I would normally avoid pubs with bouncers like the plague but in this instance with the beer tasting so good, I will continue to visit.

30/1/12 The beautiful pub has descended into rack and ruin. Filthy litter strewn outside areas and beer garden. Beer bottles, glasses, 100's of cigarette butts all on public view from the pavement. Really puts down the conservation area it is located in and is indicative of the poor management currently in charge.

Inside the Gents toilets are filthy with urinals broken and leaking water onto floor. The rowdy and rough clientele the landlord encourages, take great advantage of plasma Sky sports tv. On Big Match days and weekends, with cheap booze the pub is a no go area, Landlord not in evidence.

This family pub in quiet residential area requires bouncers on the door, most nights, who are ineffectual in stopping overt misuse of substances in the pub toilets.

In short, this beautiful pub has suffered years of neglect by the incumbent landlord who has driven it into a cheap Wetherspoon's alternative that creates drink fuelled yobs watching endless hours of Sky sports.

This business model is seriously flawed as this public house has the potential to be a much better establishment.

As a local man I don't mind the Daylight at all. The beer is reasonably priced and the pub decor is nice. They've got decent tellies to watch the footie on and a nice little beer terrace round the back. The staff are polite and I've never experienced bad service. On the slightly negative side the clientele seem to be a bit on the " Look at me, I'm Jack The Lad" sort of crowd and there have been a few punch ups at this place. But then again you get idiots everywhere you go nowadays so it's not the pubs fault. A thumbs up 7 out of 10 for me.

Weve heard rumours that the pub has been sold to Food pub chain i.e. Beefeater. I would be a great shame as Petts Wood has 21 Restuarants allready Its nice to have a "PUB"
