The hotel bar was crowded the evening that I drank there.
A pint of Adnams bitter was very welcome.

We had a couple of well-kept pints and a main course in the restaurant, which was also good. Limited choice on food and not cheap.
Clean, classy open pub/hotel with outdoor eating area at the back.
I wouldn’t say it was much dearer than anywhere else we supped in Stamford, ie outrageously pricey. Pretty much Hobson’s choice for eating on Sunday evening as hardly anywhere else does it.

The Crown is a better-than-most market town hotel with a nice outdoor suntrap drinking area and a well renovated interior. Food has a good reputation, with much local produce used. Beer selection does not seem as good as previously - Landlord has gone - but the owner obviously likes to promote his own Ufford Ales (Adnams bitter also available). Like the rest of Mr. Thurlby's ever expanding empire prices are rather high, even for Stamford and its surrounds, but his establishments are busy, a great deal of money has been spent on making them a pleasant environment and you gets what you pays for.

Stopped here for a few beers late in the summer. Prices comparable with the rest of Stamford (ie not the cheapest in Lincolnshire) but a good selection of local real ales and a good wine list for the laydees. Seating inside in the bar is a little modern, but comfortable and there are quieter areas inside (poss used to be snug?). Seating outside is great on a nice day. Worth a visit.

A great example of a decent hotel bar good selection of beers well kept though a bit pricy, The Periwig (same owner) across the road is cheaper & noisier.
