| Followed a sign near the reservoir pointing the way to this pub and saying "food served daily between 12 and 9", so was more than disappointed to find the pub closed at half 1 on a Thursday. Is this winter, then? I think someone associated with the pub needs to either remove or change the sign to avoid other people being as disappointed to remain pintless as myself. Thought I would visit the only other pub listed for Tintwistle, but that too was closed! such is life!! beerface - 28 Oct 2011 14:23 |
| Always wanted to try this pub and it did not disappoint. Had a nice pint of Howard town from Glossop and Homemade steak and kidney pudding with homemade chips it was well worth the price. The girlfriend had the spicy pork hot pot and it was melt in the mouth pork. If you see the signs for the pub when travelling on the woodhead pass make sure you make an effort to try it out. | Fantastic pub serving really well looked after real ales including TT LandLord and Best, Wrens Nest from Glossops micro brewery Howard Town + a weekly guest. Great homemade food including big fat REAL chips!! Homemade Steak pies, puddings, curries etc. Dog, Group and Kid friendly a must if your out and about the longdendale section of the Transpennine trail or staying as I did at Crowden Camp site - now serves food daily although is not open in the day in winter Mon to Thursday. Easter onwards open day as it is Friday to Sunday njackon - 17 Jan 2011 04:40 |
| UPDATE - Now 4 real ales on; currently Taylors Landlord, Bombardier, Jennings Cocker Hoop and 1 other. Food excellent at reasonable prices but only avaliable Thurs/Fri eve; Sat lunch and eve and Sunday till early eve. Couple open fires for the cold winters days. All seems to be doing well. ppw - 4 Mar 2009 12:53 |
