This is my local pub and I have previously had great meals there but on Saturday visiting with two friends we booked in week for 8pm, after asking many times "when will food be served" and getting "10 minutes" and excuses that they had a big group in (its a pub with a restaurant!) at 9.25pm the next table stood up and complained we have been waiting an hour whereas I piped up "we have been waiting hour and a half". To add further insults they then brought food to the table next to us prompting us to leave. No apology, some trite comment by the French owner of "so it goes" but one free round. Bitterly disappointed, why cant they tell you earlier on it will be no food. My visiting friends and I returned home to beans on toast. They lost customers, never again.

Thought we'd try this place, as it was recommended by someone we know, and I'm glad we did. Otter bitter @ £2-30 a pint is pretty good value, with Doombar & Oakham Inferno @ £2-80 equally good, and in fine fettle. There were several people eating, so had a look at the menu, which was very reasonably priced. Both myself and the Memsahib had a filled baguette. Not very adventurous I know, but I only fancied a snackette.
What a mistake to make! In comes the baguette with a salad and chips, and I must admit, it defeated me. I took half my baguette home.
Seems to have a fair old mix of locals (some of whom arrive and depart by bus) and passing trade. Well, I shall include myself in one or other of these categories in the future.
Service was absolutely 100% perfect, as was the beer and the food.
I was a little miffed when last orders was called at 1415 on a bust Thursday lunchtime session though. Have they no soul?

Busy village centre hotel with welcoming bar popular with visitors and locals. Three beers, Otter Ale, Sharps Doom and Yeovil Ale's Star Gazer, the last of which my running club helped drain. Food looks good, but have not yet sampled. Beware closing hours as previously mentioned.

Popped in on Saturday and last orders were called at 2pm! Wouldn't bother again.

Unusually good food for a Somerset village pub; but then the landlord's missus is French, and so is the cook. Depending on which waitress is on duty, it is possible to order and converse in English, French, German and Russian. The pub has had a renaissance under the change of ownership
