Another visit here the other day. Three good local real ales including Havant's Finished. Friendly staff and fellow customers. A nice place all round.

Agree with RobbyG re the beer and the staff.
I was visiting friends in the area and we paid a visit last week. It was my first chance to sample the local Havant brew "Finished", although I understand it is brewed at Cowplain. I was impressed with it wherever it comes from!
Bowman's Wallops was also very drinkable.
Ringwood was the third beer available.
The staff were very friendly, chatty and easy to get along with.
The garden looked inviting but it wasn't outdoor drinking weather.
Can't comment on the food as we didn't eat.
Liked the pub and will definately return if I'm in the area again.

Great watering hole. Quiet during the day ( winter months) but well supported by the diners.
Well kept beer (real ales) excellent pint of Guinness, my tipple.
The staff are just about the best, friendly with constant smiles and banter, nothing is too much for this well trained crew.
At last we have management that is hands on, hence the on going success of this country pub/restaurant.
The food is top notch, maybe on the more expensive side BUT, you get what you pay for...it's excellent. GREAT Sunday lunches.
Large gardens that is a real hit during the summer months.
Well behaved children and pets are welcome...at last a good pub where I can take the dog.
This is where the FA cup was kept during the war years, Portsmouth having won it in 1939.
In my opinion, the BEST pub in the area.
I think the Real Ale buffs will approve. So too the food connoisseur.

After prevoiusly visiting a sister pub 'The Hurdles' a few of times and being more than satisfied at the high level of service and superbe fare. Tonight my wife and I went to 'The Bird In Hand'. The food order was executed three times incorrectly with my wife eating her main by herself and a desert that was nearly correct.
The cooked food itself was poor and overpriced. I can't blame the young apologetic staff for the poor service. The blame lies in the lack of training by management.

'The Hurdles' may suffer by association if the quality and value in its sister pub does not improve
