| I last rated this pub in 2006, it was somewhat negative. Despite being my closest local for the last 40 years - I rarely (almost never) used it, at one time I did not enter for 10 years (till they changed the landlord). Gales at one time said they would make improvement but that never came to fruition. You only have to read the old reviews to see some of the problems. I was resigned to it becomming a housing development - thus losing yet another pub. Last week I discovered that the Farmer had been taken over and refurbished. Today I visited and was surprised by the changes. It was bright and airy and looked very clean, I think this is the first decorating completed in the last 35 years. The HSB was excellent. We had already eaten so cannot comment on the food, but by all accounts it is excellent so will give it a go next weekend. The landlady was very pleasant and told us what they had managed to do so far and her plans for the future. I really hope she succeeds, she deserves to, it seems she has already brought the pub back to life. I hope she gets full support from Fullers. I will definately start to use it on a regular basis. | The pub IS under new management and the Fields family welcome you to the 'new' Farmer Inn. We have refurbished two thirds of the pub thanks to the 30+ volunteers who responded to The Farmer Inn Facebook 'Your Local Pub Needs You' Event (which appeared in The News, The Sun and the Daily Express!) and we plan to refurbish the remaining third of the pub very soon! Food is served from 12-9 Mon to Sat and 12-6 on Sundays. We are offering 'Two Mains for £12' between 12 noon and 6pm during October and November and our Christmas Party and Christmas Day menus are now available. We look forward to seeing you soon at 'the very new Farmer Inn'!!! ElaineFields - 23 Oct 2011 01:06 |
| Having heard this pub is under new management we decided to try it out by having a few drinks and then ended up staying for dinner. I can say we had an excellent time as the food was of a very very good standard, all freshly prepared and a very reasonable price, well done to the new chef. The new managament have cleaned the place up a lot and have been able to keep that very warm feeling you get from a good country pub. They have also introduced an area with soft settees and coffee tables where you can relax and just have a coffee if you fancy. Not only were the staff very friendly so were the people drinking there, none of that who's in my pub stuff. This pub is about a mile away from where I live and i can see I will become a regular visitor. potpot - 25 Sep 2011 21:02 |
| Visited this pub at the weekend (18/09/2011) It is now VERY different in a really good way. There is excellent food available all freshly prepared in-house by a superb chef. The atmosphere is very welcoming and relaxing. The staff are nothing but friendly, helpful and will bend over backwards to make you feel at home. I can't wait to spend more time here and sample more of the super duper menu. pridemonster - 22 Sep 2011 12:29 |
