| Stayed here in 2006 when walking the Cotswolds way. On a local walk around Winchcombe today and after a disappointing attempt at food at the Plaisterers arms came here for a fantastic welcome and great food. Three real ales on and they even popped out with biscuits and water for the dog. She was more interested in our steak sandwiches. Really nice garden and locals that all talk with you. | Great beer garden in the middle of Winchcombe, although that's the only positive I have for here. Only been in a couple of times though. Bar tender didn't seem to know how to serve drinks, served up Baileys straight with no ice, and got my scotch in a brandy glass. Never appears to be many people in here except for Sunday lunchtime. zeanard - 8 Sep 2009 19:03 |
| Only one real ale on tap when I visited. Not the best pub in Winchcombe by any means. Didn't stand out as being particulary friendly either. ICTGringo - 15 Aug 2007 16:28 |
| Awful place for food. Always depressing when i pub advertises great hom-cooked food and you get served up frozen, deep-fried rubbish. Rude and lazy young girls were semi-waiting, whilst the quality of the food served up was very poor. Get better quality food in central london, cheaper as well. anonymous - 6 Jun 2006 16:21 |
| We had a good pint of Stanway in this pleasant but quiet pub. Unfortunately the Hook Norton I also tried looked fine but tasted like vinegar. It looks as though food is served in a separate area but the menu was reasonable priced. Could do with more custom to give it a better atmosphere as there was hardly anyone there at 7 on saturday evening besides a table of youngsters playing pontoon. We tried again later but was no busier, can't explain why. lout_from_the_lane - 29 Mar 2005 14:42 |
