Sadly the place is really going downhill... Not sure if it's because the Eerie Pub company doesn't exist any more, but it's lost a lot of its mock-gothic, dark charm. Friendly staff and crowd, but the music gets worse with time and the food isn't amazing... Also for people who've been going for a while, you'll notice it's now much brighter in there and very sanitised now (a lot of the décor is gone) which is a shame. Still, good for a quick pint central. piratep - 18 Jun 2009 17:15
I really can't understand the couple of reviews saying the food here is good. I like the pub itself, it serves decent beer, and the decor is good fun, it's not too loud and if you can get a table, it's a pretty good place to meet in town. On reading a couple of reviews on here saying the food was pretty good we decided to order something here before a gig at the 100 Club. Big mistake. My veg. lasagne was small, microwaved to a lip melting temperature with a tiny garnish of floppy salad leaves and 2 slice of tomato for £8. My partner had the burger which arrived with around 10 chips and a cold bun for nearly £8 too. A complete rip-off in my view, which is a shame as the pub itself is pretty good. Drink here, but eat elsewhere... nicesean - 8 Jun 2009 09:31
Popped in here with the wife on Saturday night as she has never been before. Good collection of Goffs and Rockers in so she got the full Ben Crouch Tavern experience. Unfortunately the only handpump on was GK IPA so wasn't so good for me. But suffered a pint of Suffolks supposed finest as the atmosphere and decor was worth staying for one. Oh, and if you've never been before and want to know what's all the fuss about the decor see the posting from RogerB below for a full description. Gann - 26 Apr 2009 22:25
Great pub. Visited 3 times on a recent trip to London from Australia. Good beer, good music, good food, and a good quirky feel. banksy - 20 Apr 2009 06:30
I lurve this pub! The barstaff are friendly, the food is good, and the decor is very cool. Everyone who drinks in the pub is also friendly, I have never seen any trouble of any sort in this pub. There are also a few random characters, such as the tiny guy who is often seen propping up the bar, the tall barman, and the magician. Grooveygal - 20 Dec 2008 05:01
