When this was an O'neill's, despite lovely staff I would rarely go in, however since it's change to The Lukin the place has gone from strength to strength and I find myself visiting more and more often. The staff are always friendly and more than ready for a chat, which is probably why the place has such a huge local crowd who know the staff well, but more importantly they're very efficient and even when it's busy as on fridays the service is still impressively quick.
The Harveys, and particularly the Guinness are always in top notch condition, and a new Fullers tap has recently been recently put in. The artwork on the walls is, in my opinion, far from 'poncy', and hardly an eyesore if you don't have an interest in art. Apparently the paintings are by a fairly well known Huungarian artist ('Kulocity', well worth a look) who is friends with one of the managers, and they're aiming to change the exhibition regularly.
A nice bright skylight at the back (though I usually prefer a darker, dingier drinking spot, but this is great in summer), foosball table to the side, pool table upstairs and a growing array of bits and bobs and personal touches behind the bar. What's not to like?

I had a pint of Harveys Best in here recently and it wasn’t in the best condition. I doubt that I’ll ever return, but if I do I think that I will pick from the selection of standard and premium lagers.

There is some seating crammed in at the rear of the pub under a glass ceiling, but I preferred to lean on the big window ledge at the front of the pub as it was a lot more comfortable.

There is table football and I think that a league has started or is starting up. The plasma screen is a nice size and it is only used for sporting events, so no constant Sky Sports feed.

There are a few café type tables on the path at the front of the pub, but these seemed to be in high demand.

There are better pubs in the area.
