Visited several times and the best things are the owners (and son), who are really helpful and sociable, and the food, which is genuinely home made and can be excellent. Enjoy.

excellent food, beer and service!! owners have had it 3 and a half years thank god the greek has gone!! what a choice of beer 4 different ales ranging from 3.9% to 4.6%.thatchers gold on tap. excellent menu the specials board is all homemade i had the venison steak topped with a herby crust with a red wind and port jus, my partner had a 16oz rump steak with all the trimmings and what makes it even more special is the meat is from there own cattle 100% british u wouldnt find thag in many pubs unfortunately!!then pudding was homemade white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake!!! lovely locals in there which make you very welcome. would recommend greatly

Food pub, no proper cider despite the fact that there are several cider farms nearby, only two real ales and one of them was off when I visited (they'd run out of Butcombe so had to have Abbott @ 2.60 / pint, quite dear enough and had to ask the barman to top it up!). Two questions: why stock two brands of fizzy, tasteless, mass-produced cider but none of the real stuff when you are in the heart of England's cider country?; and, how do you run out of a beer, especially when you only stock two?
Pleasant enough interior but I really can't think of anything particularly good to say about the place. Oh yes, they have a very nice Golden Retriever, but he was chained up outside. Just another food pub, don't suppose I'll be back.

I have visited many times and can verify that it is an excellent pub with superb home cooked food and well kept real ales. The management changed fairly recently but the food is of the same high quality as before.

Enjoyed an excellent pint of Butcombe's real ale followed by a delicious meal that we really enjoyed beside a real log fire. Friendly feeling and will definitely visit again.
