user reviews of the Hour Glass, Walworth

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Clearly time has moved on or else "George" has a death-wish on his family: the Hour Glass is a very plain pub in a frightening area of London. If the walk up the concrete eastern bloc-style avenue on Beaconsfield Road does not put you off, then the peeling varnish on the bar and lack of selection in beers (continental lagers, Guiness and Tetley "smooth stream" only when I went) will.

This pub (and the hostel above it) is not recommended for any girls alone, families or anyone middle class after dark. This area felt less safe than any I have come across on either side of the river in my 5+ years in London, and sadly the generic beer was just not worth it.

Unless you know this area well, my strong advice is to avoid this pub at all costs.
