Went in this pub recently for a pint after there was some issues with the train but ended up walking out. It was like a scene from the wild west with almost complete silence as someone other than a regular walked in the door. I was stood at the bar and waited for service but 2 clearly local people that the bar staff knew walked up behind me and were served drinks before I was even asked what I would like to order. Walked out and back to the station I went with a bottle of coke that came from the garage. Has the potential to do well but clearly the regulars only want other regulars there. mark141287 - 22 Mar 2011 23:15
Following the shabby service received in The Feathers, we crossed the road and visited the Railway. From the outside we were not expecting much. Inside a proper pub, friendly landlord, reasonable good value menu, substantial potions (to much in fact). Good pint of GK IPA. Judging by the number of customers obviously benefiting from the terrible service in the Feathers. A few people like us had voted with their feet it would appear. Only one downside was the presence of a foul mouthed (local) sitting at the bar who seemed incapable of stringing a sentence together without the use of the F word, a bit worrying he seemed to be there with his very young son. ericstadd - 29 Mar 2009 09:49
We went into this pub by chance as we missed our train. What a little gem, friendly locals, nice and clean with a proper cor blimey Landlady straight out the East End. Will certainly go back to try the food. happyheating - 31 Oct 2008 14:52
How unfriendly is this place!! Thought we would look for a new local but it won't be this one. The landlady was too busy chatting to a regular and changing TV channels to be bothered to say hello. Got a couple of grunts when we ordered our drinks but no civility until the glasses were empty but we weren't prepared to spend any more time or money in this pit. anonymous - 13 Nov 2007 11:21
The locals pub. This became the 'works' local when the Feathers over the road, changed hands and became run down (it's changed hands again & is much better). My favorite memory of this bar was the on going quiz on our first visit. A bra was pinned to the bar - with sign saying "Guess how many ponuds in Jilly Jugs" I'm not sure if anyone ever one. Split into 2 bars in the old Saloon / Public bar fashion. TuftUno - 7 Sep 2005 13:02
