A good Fullers pub which also had Surrey Hills Ranmore Ale, a very nice beer for a warm evening when you don't want anything too malty.

Have nicked named this pub 'The Wicker Man'. When you go in at a quiet time, the locals at the bar turn round and stare at you - haven't been abducted and burnt yet - so probably okay............. Despite the Pride is good.

I visit this pub, or used to, every year or so, when visiting relatives in the area. It is tragic to see how a once friendly, family pub has fallen victim to big screen Sky tv, loud music, and chavs. The two distinct bars are a good idea, but not when the music(?)is so loud that it can't be avoided in the lounge bar. The outdoor smoking umbrella was down because it was too windy. The public bar chavs were outside indulging in a screaming and swearing contest. The once good fresh cod is now 'freshly battered cod', which I imagine to be frozen cod with 'fresh' batter; at £10+ I could have got two such meals in a chippie, and probably of much better quality. The beer was tired(Young's). The visit won't be repeated. A great shame.

ps Is there some accounting reason that you can only get £20 cash with your debit card?

nice pub spoiled by some ginger twat strimming his lawn across the road.

Cracking pub. Former Surrey CAMRA Pub of the Year (not long ago), so you know you're going to get a really good pint - had a cracking pint of Oakham's JHB in here once. Probably the 2nd best pint I've ever had. Room to the right has the tele for the sport, one to the left is a lounge type room straight out of the 60s/70s. Classic. Two rooms completely separate so you can sit, chat and sup in the lounge without being bothered by the sport. Check out the old brewery windows - these should be listed. With here, the Foley Arms and the very different Hare and Hounds, Claygate has got some decent pubs.
