I was very impressed with this place and will undoubtedly be returning. A fine selection of ales and foreign beers all at very decent prices really. Sitting on the roof terrace, inspite of the close proximity to the railway line, was very pleasant. ChrisP87 - 9 Oct 2008 14:22
A fine bar. I was comfortably ensconsced here with my regulation G&T whilst my dreamy hunk Basil was waiting for some of his friends from his Naval days. The decor is good, the trains rattling overhead actually add ambience and the menu appears most interesting although we haven't yet had chance to sample it. In summer the balcony is pleasant, too. Basil is most impressed by the selection of beers - being owned by the Marble brewery it always has some good pints including the rather alcoholic ginger beer, even if it's not a pint he'd wish to have all the time. After a few G&Ts and beers things became a bit hazy. Basil's friends turned up and introduced me to something called 'sambuca'. I remember getting home myself in the early hours, and vague memories of a mass of writhing bodies thereafter. The following morning I awoke with a pounding headache, covered in seamen. I am most cross with those navy boys, don't they know I'm trying to be a lady? RosemaryAndBasil - 15 Sep 2008 01:59
This is an excellent bar and one I always try to visit when I am in manchester. The range of real ales is good and they are always well kept. Service is friendly. I haven't had a reason to eat there, but the menu looks good. Excellent musical tates as well. alexw123 - 7 Apr 2008 18:12
Sister pub to the excellent 'The Bar' in Chorlton. Best place in the vicinity by a long way. It does attract the deansgate crowd though. Brilliant beer choice both in bottles and real ale. Nice roof terrace in summer Scottie_chorlton - 11 Mar 2008 18:33
Another excellant place in Manchester, and another place I visit when in the city. Good foreign beers and real ales (usually always from Manchester brewers). Opens late. Never tried the food but it looks n smells good. Have found some of the staff a bit upselves at times. bloomfieldjpm - 18 Nov 2007 06:42
