yeah ill second that with the john knowles comment, i think they play there once a month aa house band if you like, they are really good and seem to bring in a nice crowd with them, a garenteed good night. anonymous - 12 Oct 2007 08:26
this pub isn't the best in hemel hempstead by any means, however i think a few people are being abit unfair, for a start its not full of skinheads and pikeys, sure there are a few 'undisirables' but thats in every pub throughout the u.k., this pub is fantastic if you want to see live music in hemel hempstead as there arn't that many pubs in hemel that cater ffor this nee, the oddfellows in apsley is good but not very central to town, so this pub in my books is better for that, especially if your lucky to be there on a night 'john knowles' is playing, theres 2 of them so i dont know why the just call them selves 'john knowles' but hey who am i to judge, they are very, very good excellent selection of songs and a great lead guitar player not to mention the singing by both which is outstanding, the pub has an excellent selection of beers and theres a couple of ale's there (on and off) but overall very good, excellent also for sports which as many other comments will back me up on due to the what seem like hundreds of screens throughout, landlord seems nice, bar staff are good, sometimes slow sometimes bang on but overall no complaints. i would recomend this pub to anyone who wants a good drink and a late one at that as on a 'john knowles night' seems to stay open untill the 1am mark, sometimes abit rowdy but hey what pub isn't, overall a good night out. anonymous - 11 Oct 2007 11:05
This pub is hole, really small and stinks of smoke all the time, beer used to always be pretty good though and his a big screen for the sport, dosen't serve food and is mainly full of old irish men. CrazyHorse - 2 Oct 2006 14:07
New landlord here now. Seems like a nice bloke if you get to see him as he never seems to be there. The bar staff seem to be very young and do not seem to be up to the job. At weekends this pub used to be great for the older clientel and a good atmosphere was guaranteed. Now, it seems the bar staff are less selective on who they let in ie: underage kids and pikeys. Still a good pub to watch football on a sat. anonymous - 8 Sep 2006 00:19
Hmm. I think the landlord's advertisement below could not be further from the mark. Scary and threatening mix of chavs and travellers. Filthy with poor selection of ill kept beer. Horrible. anonymous - 19 Jun 2006 17:12
