Enjoyed our visit to this pub again. Good choice of their own York beers and plenty of guest beers. We enjoyed 2 York beers, Yorkshire Terrier and Guzzler, 2 Summer Wine beers, Dambusters and Helios, and Abbeydale White Xmas. Someone who asked for coffee was told they did not do coffee but could have Mulled Wine instead. A bit strange as most pubs, especially those serving food, do serve coffee. Think the chef had failed to get in so they were losing out on food as well. Good pub with a great atmosphere though.

Characterful gem of a pub located on Stonegate in the centre of York, only a short walk from the Minster. Been here a few times and never fails to satisfy. York Brewery beers plus guest ales all served in excellent condition by friendly staff, and on the one occasion I sampled the food (pie chips and peas) this too was superb. Pleasant upstairs room with large bay window which is excellent for watching the world (and the totty) go by. Toilets also upstairs very clean (at least the gents was), there is a stairlift for those less able to manage stairs. One of those places that it is a criminal offence to miss if you happen to be in York.

A great place to while away some time. The usual York Brewery suspects plus guests, the chap in the shop seemed a bit miserable though. Probably the best of the York brewery pubs, although it's close.

In my opinion the best of the Yorkshire Brewery pubs in York.
Lovely pint of Terrier Bitter.
Very friendly and knowledgable bar staff.
Very clean and welcoming and a very unusal layout with the shop front.
Good atmosphere and friendly clientel.
Will visit again when next in York.

Initially thought that this place was just a shop selling York brewery carryout until, venturing inside, we discovered a fine little pub dispensing excellent quality ales dispensed by friendly, knowledgeable bar staff. Wouldn't hesitate to revisit.
