| Set in the heart of old Baschurch opposite the church, this pub has a decent car park, and a pleasantly presented interior. We'd heard the food was good and thought we'd venture away from our usual haunts for a change. With a table booked for six, we were disappointed not to be acknoweldged at all by the bar man. After waiting at the quiet bar and being ignored for several minutes we found a table and seated ourselves. It took over half an hour before the orders were taken and a further forty five minutes before the starter appeared. There were further unacceptably long periods of around half an hour between courses. With two young children to entertain, the experience became frustrating, especially when neither accompanied by explanation, nor apology. Fortunately the food and ale was of exceptional quality but given such derisory and unwelcoming service, in particular from the head barman, we shall certainly not be adding this to our list of favourites. Rating = 6 (9 food, 3 service) Hungry_Jon - 22 Jan 2011 10:05 |
| This pub is under new ownership, a young couple have bought the pub so its freehold so lots of really good quality cask ales, Banks bitter and Abbot ale on all the time and 1 or 2 quest ales change every few days. They have completley gutted the place to what it used to be like, its now clean well kept with great food great beer and a really nice beer garden. And its in the nicest part of the village opposite the church. This pub is a real hidden treasure, not to be missed! anonymous - 9 Oct 2006 14:42 |
