Having been back a few times since the landlord changed, I think it is only fair to say how much the atmosphere has improved. The Harveys is still well kept too! bitterntwisted - 7 Dec 2011 20:52
UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT! What a great change to the pub. Gone is the miserable old landlord who considered customers a nuicance. Some months ago we had our worst ever Sunday lunch experience here, but we popped in about 3pm on a Saturday and were made very welcome by the new landlord. Very friendly, knows about his beer, allows children in, and to top it all wifi. My wife and mother ate there for lunch midweek and gave the food the thumbs up. We shall try it for dinner soon but we are pleased to see it retaining "pub" status. Andiman - 12 Nov 2011 09:27
I use this pub pretty regularly and have to say that the Harvey's is always well kept, although some of the other beers can be less than perfection. The landlord however, is in a league of his own, surly, rude and inclined to try to give short measure, which has led to several run-ins over the years. Yet the other staff are all pleasant and work hard. It is the only pub I have ever visited where two women started to fight, fortubatelt ably dealt with by the barmaid that evening! bitterntwisted - 16 Sep 2011 17:58
Large roadside pub on the A25 with an historic core and large beer garden. Separate dining area. We had lunch there recently: the food was OK though a ham ploughmans was basically ham, bread and pickle with garnish. Harvey's on tap, which was decently kept, but served with a large head. The barman gave me a sour look when I asked for a top up, and was tight-lipped with me after that, so my mate had to order the food. Not somewhere I'd rush back to, which is a pity, as the building and location has loads of potential. dmj1962 - 10 Aug 2011 23:49
I stumbled on this place purely by accident at the weekend and must say we were really impressed. Nice beer, great service and despite the comments above, the food was lovely. Nice friendly locals there too who we were chatting to, thumbs up. ilovemyfood - 10 May 2010 09:03
