Sorry - one more thing. Don't misinterpret someone's earlier comment about being a Pompey fan. I'm sure that was meant as a light-hearted comment. As far as I could tell it's not a football obsessed pub.

Visited this pub recently and had a really good pint of Altons. So good that I then had another. I can vouch for the fact that the owning family and staff are really welcoming and friendly. Didn't try the food but I understand from a local that it is good value and plentiful. They also now have accommodation at what seems to me to be very competitive prices.

A huge log fire welcomes you as you come through the entrance of the Jolly Drover. Above the fireplace is a large and varied menu of home cooked food and a good selection of beers are available such as Altons Pride, Timothy Taylors, London Pride, Ringwood best and Hogsback TEA all in excellent condition. Their is also a good wine list with wines from all the popular regions of the world. The staff are all very friendly and if you like football and are a supporter of Portsmouth, Barry the landlord will make you feel even more at home at this very well run pub ( even the regulars at the bar seem friendly). If you want to dine I would recommend booking, esp Sunday lunch, as being very popular it does get busy. Overall, in my opinion, probably the best pub in the area.

This is a most underated pub. There is a good selection of real ales and the food is incredible value and the portions huge with seven or eight vegetable per platter full. With virtually nothing 'bought in' it's all freshly cooked - superb. It's advisable to book at busy times but don't go if you're not a Pompey fan. It's mine & my wifes favourite pub if we're both thirsty and starving.
