Went there on a tuesday evening as saw that it was under new ownership arrived about 6.45 it was empty we were the only people apart from the chef and the waitress in the place. Firstly it said outside 2 courses 9.99 the menu's were bought over which for main course i thought was expensieve for a pub between 10-20 with most items being in the higher end of the scale i then had to ask the waitress about the meal deal and she said oh yeah sorry i forgot about that then bought a tiny piece of paper which was grubby with food dirt. The starter was good and was prepared quickly , but to get the waitress attention to get another drink i had to bellow across the room as she was embroiled on her phone. the main courses were awful the liver was overcooked and tough and my pie was awful and just full of bad cuts of meat that were full of fat and it gave you that horrible fatty flavour in my mouth with actually resulted in me being sick later that evening. and the desert was just a shambles the crumble was swimming in birds custard it could still taste the powder and the top of the crumble wasnt hard or browned. I paid my bill and hastily exited. wont be going there again and will actually go out of my way to tell family and friends to not go there honestly probably my worst restaurant experience ever ferp1367 - 25 Aug 2011 10:40
FOLLOWING A COUPLE OF GOOD REPORTS FROM FRIENDS AND KNOWING IT TO BE UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP MY FAMILY DECIDED TO DINE HERE THIS EVENING. WHAT A SURPRISE ! TRANSFORMED FROM A TIRED NEGLEGTED BOOZER TO A COSY AND COMFORTABLE RESTAURANT IN A SHABBY CHIC KIND OF WAY. THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS AND THE SERVICE VERY FRIENDLY AND ATTENTITIVE WITHOUT BEING TOO FUSSY. THE 2 ROARING FIRES WERE THE FINAL TOUCH. THERE WAS A LARGE PARTY IN THE "SKITTLES ALLEY" NEXT DOOR AND THEY SEEMED TO BE HAVING A GREAT TIME. LOVELY EVENING AND THOROUGHLY RECOMMENDED. bizzybee - 2 Oct 2010 01:47
Very slow service they ignore requests they don't care for. avoid theme evenings they are like a third rate very noisy disco and the dancing creates safety hazards! vincenta - 16 Aug 2010 18:33
This pub has been done up inside and is no longer a pub! It is nice to look at though. Had a meal here last night, and range of drinks is poor, kids menu is not the best and the food menu is well above its station. This was a lovely pub for families and walkers, they are trying to turn it into something it's not. And to ask for money upfront is dis trusting, let alone rude, it is also very over priced, and to put it blatentl you get more food for your money in a McDonalds kids meal. Would not recommend Lemonclem - 12 Aug 2010 10:15
Had a great meal here in Feb 2010 - the atmosphere was great with lovely decor. The staff were friendly and efficient. The menu and wine list were good and according to my husband ( a beer connoisseur!) the beer was excellent. The food was outstanding: well presented, finely cooked, delicious. A lovely place to go. dalmatians91 - 17 Feb 2010 19:41
