I use this place occasionally - only when the other bar at Stockley Park is closed. One evening after waiting 15 minutes to be served I asked for a pint of one of the beers they had available. "Sorry, but we cannot serve that in pints - it is illegal" What a load of rubbish - I have never heard of a law which prohibits selling beer by the pint. After a protracted argument they finally agreed to serve me two half pints and give me a pint glass. polchraine - 26 Mar 2008 08:52 |
I have been a regular customer even when this was previously a very up market restaurant. The watery aspect is unusually pretty for an industrial park setting. The venue also benefits from the sun all the year round. The food is pretty good for the price. This venue has a captive customer base from Stockley park which sticks closely to business lunch hours but the management seem incapable of managing the rush hours at the Bar.I have waited for 20 minutes to be severed at the bar on several occasions and that is half the time I have to spend with my clients over lunch. There is also a very inflexible regime about choosing a table and taking the number back to the bar before you can start a food order. You may have waited by the bar but the bar staff refuse to take your order till you give them a table number which can mean going to the far end of the restaurant only to return to the bar and find your back at the end of the queue again...stressfull. The Tab system seems to work well. More bar staff at such predictable busy times would help bay - 16 Jan 2008 11:04
Nothing special. The beer might be cheap but is never that good. Service is SLOW. Avoid it and use the wine bar opposite where te beer is better. polchraine - 19 Oct 2007 01:26
You can only judge it by the other local options . So this is your best bet for a drink in pleasent surroundings. Shame it wasnt open when I used to work in the park years ago. anonymous - 4 Sep 2007 23:04
A typical Wetherspoons. Not busy on this occasion but it still took ages to get served due to the snails pace bar staff. The one and only guest beer was not available. Nothing unusual there. The pumps were designed for ale to be served top-fill but some uneducated fool had decided to add a long plastic tube with a sparkler attached to fill the glass from thre bottom and create extra foam therefore spoiling the taste of the Fullers London Pride I had. Unfortunately a lot of Wetherspoons pubs are going for the foamy beer style now and I only visited this one because I was with others. When it's my own choice I stay well away from them. YES to free houses but not the Wetherspoons ones. fuzzfeast - 25 Aug 2007 19:59
