user reviews of the Old Crown, Girton

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The service was unbelievably slow in this slightly pretentious pub - though the landlady knew she would be busy, there seemed to be only one waitress - who was sweet but untrained and not familiar with the menu. She couldn't cope, nor could the kitchen. It all took forever and mostly wasn't worth waiting for: the steak and ale pie was good but the risotto gloopy and the grilled plaice pappy. Rhubarb and ginger crumble OK. Overpriced for the standard though and dreadfully organised

This pub has recently reopened 2/8/08. It has a lovely peaceful ambiance, nice heated patio and beer garden. There is a good selection of sensibly priced home cooked meals. Three different real ales on tap with a large selection of beers and wine. 10% off meals untill the end of August.
Good pub worth a visit.
We will

Went here a couple of weeks back & was very impressed.
Fine range of ales food was excellent.Specializes in fish .The fresh lightly battered haddock with salad peas & chips was the best I have eaten in years.Own babies food microwaved & even washed & returned our china.
It pays to travel up from the South to get this kind of attentive service even the prices were cheaper.
Well done
