A great place to wait for ppl to get off the train, being just opposite the station, a nice place to relax at the end of the day especially if you can get a table, usually with nice comfy seats, the food isn't too bad either. But if you plan on staying a while then get a few rounds in before the place gets busy as you will have to wait an eternity to get served again as the empty glasses stack up around the tables. GET SOME MORE STAFF DOWN THERE MANAGEMENT! Its usually easier fetch drinks from upstairs (Prince of Wales) where they seem overwhelmed with bar staff..

Okay, this is a lovely setting and not full of some of the less appealing inhabitants of the Broadway bars and clubs, of that there is no doubt. The service however, is appalling, with all the charm and warmth of ex-Soviet Bloc countries although at a slightly slower pace. Be prepared to spend up to 20 minutes at the bar as the bar staff are regularly not there and even when they are bring a whole new definition to the word slooooooow...

Technically a separate entry, although “the downstairs of the Prince of Wales” would suffice as a description. I’ve been in here a few times and they only tend to have one ale on. The wine list is the same as upstairs, which is not overly rousing.

The place gets offensively clogged with smoke; roll on July 1 when – to ape the classic 90s anthem – I am as serious as cancer, when I say that the smoking ban will be an enhancer. The sofas are also quite low.

A slightly more relaxed and dingy version of upstairs, so not worth a detour.

In here last night but only 6X on, upstairs much better. Open mic night which was fun even though bar staff were less so..... My wife likes the cellar bar feel so we do visit quite a bit. Garlic bread was cold and very dull but the crisps were fine thanks Walkers....

Actually pretty pleasant atmosphere: was there on a Sunday evening; quite quiet, chilled music, good service from a nice lass behind the bar.
