I take my previous post back, I had a strage romantic vision of this pub which turned out to be wrong, this pub is a complete dump. It smells constantly of a bad fart, apparently because of permanent local sewage issues. The toilets are beyond belief. The people in there look like extras from One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest and some of the staff are coarse, loud and abusive. Don't go anywhere near this place if you can help it. Cheap drinks though.

I don't know what the problem is with the other people who have left messages here, this is a wonderful pub with an incredible array of fine lagers, ales, ciders and an extensive and interesting wine list. On top of that the barmaids are stunning and impeccably polite, the clientele always good humoured and well behaved, and the decor and layout of the pub is an example for all others to follow. What a lovely area it's in as well.
