If you want a Pub , try the Old House , the Golding Hop or the Padwell. If you want a very nice lunch and someone else is paying the Chaser works. Not a Pub for beer drinlers. It is an out and out gastro pub and it does it well

What a surprise! After a gap of twenty years, we returned here to find a smart, clean friendly gastro pub with friendly and courteous bar staff. The bangers & mash were excellent as was the Hardy & Hansons bitter. We sat in the quiet conservatory and chatted whilst reading the newspapers provided. One of the best pubs we've visited for months. No loud muzac, no loud people, just comfortable chatty atmosphere. 9/10.

Fantastic gastro pub with nice garden and several areas to sit, will alow the dog at the front bar. Gets really busy in the evening so if your eating I would book. Food of late has not been as good as it used to be but the staff as ever are friendly and welcoming.
Also a good spot to go walking from.
