I had the misfortune to visit this establishment with my partner last night. We had been there several times before and found the menu varied and interesting and the food good quality and value. Our dissapointment started when we discovered the menu had been changed to the usual bland corporate chain menu style with very poor choice. We both chose the pie (chicken & mushroom) as they we supposed to be specials of the day. Well, I have to say, you could find more chicken in a chip shop pie and the taste was bland to say the least. Only the fact that I was tired and starving made me eat rather than send it back. My partner faired little better. We finished quickly, made our feelings known to the staff and left. It will be a long time before we return. What a shame.

It was Saturday about 4:30pm. Not many in the pub, but more in the garden. The Abbott was the best I have had for ages and the food, although there was not much choice, was delicious by pub standards.

The bar and waiting staff were friendly and helpful, cutlery and sauces brought to table with the food. Well worth a visit.

Was superb in the mid-1990's with the friendly bar staff of Alistair, Mike, Abby etc - good times. However, went in there recently and was barely recognisable - pretty quiet even Friday/Saturday night. Looks ok for food though.

more of a restaurant than a pub - suitable for the "saturday afternoon badminton white socks" crowd!

used to be a good walk to the pub across the surrounding countryside ..... 'til they banned dogs from the spacious gardens.
