user reviews of the John Barleycorn, Duxford

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Not visited here for a while and heard it had re-opened so decided it was time for another visit.
First thing was the car park is small and it was full, It was very busy and as its set out for food there are not a many places to sit if you are just drinking.
The bar is very small so getting a drink means queing behind other drinkers standing at the bar.
Another thing we noticed is that it was really noisy making it hard to have a conversation and not good if you want a quiet meal.
Its a GK pub so they had IPA and Abbot along with Ruddles and a beer from St Austell brewery. there was a fifth pump but it was off.
its expensive compared with other pubs in the area and the food while looking good the portions were small compared to what I expect to get for the money charged.
Worth a visit but not too often.

Quality pub- recently taken over by the guy who had the White Horse in Withersfield (when it was good) Nice atmosphere, pub been done up in lighter colours, makes a real difference. They do lush mussels and Bernies Big Grill at 14 or therabouts is worth a look if you're famished as well. Shame it's only Greene King beer available on bar at the mo...Worth rininging them if you are looking for eats, cos it's only small and seems to be always rammed since it's been done up. Well worth a visit

This is very much a locals pub. Great inside with all that old wood and brass. Food selection fair, Ales OK.
