| No pandering to tourists in here. A wide spectrum of mainly local customers, very busy and lively on a Saturday lunchtime. A bit shaby around the edges, as 'real pubs' sometimes are, but certainly nothing to complain about. Not selling itself as a real ale destination pub although the three ales available are well kept. Worth visiting before someone decides to turn it into a Gastro Pub! Islander - 12 Nov 2011 15:30 |
| After wandering by on consecutive nights and seeing arguments outside, I decided to steer clear. mrdruse - 1 Jan 2010 18:11 |
| Was expecting so much more. Pretty poor drinks selection on tap, took ages to get served. mike89 - 18 Dec 2009 11:53 |

| This is a proper locals pub in the heart of the city. The welcome is what I would call boisterous. Everybody's friendly in a loud and slighty tipsy sort of way. Has a couple of guest ales on the bar. I had a pint of Adnams Explorer which was OK. It wouldn't appeal to most of the tourists that abound round here, which is why the regulars probably consider it to be a bit of a haven. It's OK but there are better pubs in the vicinity.
