Lots of negative comments here, but I found it OK though it served Duechars IPA & John Smiths on draught, both perfectly OK pints, and I thought their food was good - 2 normal pub meals for £10 on a weekday can't be bad, certainly better than the microwaved stuff out of a Wetherspoons for example, it had actually been cooked. We went early afternoon however, so not sure what it would be like later on! jfrebrycn - 5 Feb 2012 19:25
Why did we come here, my friends and I asked ourselves. Generally dirty with a stale beer odour, food was unsurprisingly awful and staff although reasonably pleasant seemed to have no idea of their job description. Best to be avoided mmmpktge - 18 Jul 2010 11:13
Went in as a large group and tried to order drinks. I was given all the wrong drinks then blamed for getting them wrong. See then swore at me. I decided to just pay for the few drinks we got and left. The member of staff was incredibly rude. Never been spoken to like this before especially by some one I was giving money to!!! When we asked some one else if we could speak to the manager we were told that the person that had been rude was the manager. AWFUL EXPERIENCE MrMarty - 6 Mar 2009 00:21
Grim. Smells like a toilet. Feels like there's going to be a pub brawl constantly. will_s - 13 Feb 2009 18:06
Not as busy as it was seven or eight years ago, when it was one of the only pubs on the north side of the river with a late license (1am on a Sunday, most other places shut at 10.30pm). Since then, it's quietened down a bit. I like it for the well catalogued juke box and being one of the few York bars to sell "Magnet". On the downside it could still do with a tidy up and perhaps some more seating instead of the big sofas which seat 3 people but take up the space of 6 ! MountainMan - 8 Apr 2008 15:57
