Nice pub, with good mild. But I expect a pub like this to have real ale. And it had none. Am in no rush to go back. generalstaal - 12 Oct 2008 20:26
Very good food. However the landlord is rather stand-offish and the staff seem to see this as how they should also behave. Service was slow although we were the 1st to be seated in the restaurant. It got very busy and I felt sorry for those that would be in for a very long wait for their food. The waitress needed reminding several times of our request for a jug of water, then mustard, additional drinks and she also forgot our tea and coffee orders. The food isn't cheap (I don't mind paying for quality) but you expect better service at these prices. Would give the benefit of the doubt for another visit as the food was good with a varied menu, but if the staff attitude hasn't improved we won't be back. TTTT - 3 Jul 2008 19:18
Food and wine here are excellent but I agree with the comments about staff who sometimes seem preoccupied with things other than the customer; shame because everything else there is so good. Lovely venue and decor. There was a rather arrogant bunch down there last time there was a point to point on nearby - sort of blokes who stand in the doorway spouting on loudly without noticing that others would actually like to get through the doorway!! cjccjc - 17 Apr 2006 16:39
Beer (not real ale) tasteless and expensive (over £3.00 a pint). Food poor, expensive and served in an offhand manner. Not a pub I could recommend. petmdy - 24 Mar 2006 12:01
We've had several good meals here, although some folks who've gone with us have commented on high prices and pretentiousness. A small-village-pub transformed into a Destination pub. They used to run early bird specials which were good value. jjjudy - 7 Feb 2006 17:14
