user reviews of the Plough Inn, Warmington

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

We have eaten here a number of times over the past two years and have taken friends from overseas. They have been impressed by the ambiance of the place with its character and charm for being unmolested. The menu has always been varied and good value, with real ale at the bar and a friendly welcome we have never been disappointed. They will also allow dogs as long as they are well behaved, which is a bonus if you are out for the day. Well recommended.

Looks like a dreampub but the choice of beer is anything but inspiring. Big, big shame. If I remember rightly Bass was the highlight which says it all really. Tasty food and pleasant atmosphere though so could be worth another shot.

This pub is a genuine freehouse. Five real ales, all in fine condition - probably the best pint of Greene King's IPA I've ever had. Lovely head. A selection of familiar and less familiar beers. A discerning eater can easily see the homemade menu items - I ate a casserole that was made that morning. Friendly people and, as a single female, a very welcoming and understanding landlord. The sort of pub where you are involved in the locals'conversation within minutes. I loved it.

The food at this pub was disappointing for the prices - the steak was not good and came with a lot of things all tasting as if they'd been put in a deep fat frier. Dull boiled vegetables available on request.

I visited on Sunday 7th March 2005 and found a well kept pub with good beer (including Tanners Jack and a White Horse beer I think). There was a warm atmosphere in a low ceiling / bric a brac sort of way but also a variety of wine neatly displayed and a good looking menu on a chalk board.
